Over the past few weeks, we have collected from the beach and painted a selection of stones to mark the 200th anniversary of our school. On Monday 28th April, we placed the stones in various locations around the island for locals and tourists to find. We also designed posters to place in various locations to remind people to lookout for these special stones.
Please see the poster below for our annual be proud day- this is an opportunity for you to see some of the amazing work we have been doing in class.
We were delighted to be the first visitors of the season to the RSPB reserve on the island on Tuesday. Thank you to Geraldine and all the volunteers for making us so welcome and this year we were lucky that the puffins had arrived.
We were delighted to take part in the launch of the Oral History Group’s book that marked 200 years of a school on Rathlin Island. Throughout the event, we heard from some of those people who contributed to the book and our pupils got the chance to recall their favourite school memories. It was a wonderful occasion where generations of islanders came together to mark a truly significant event and we look forward to more celebrations this coming term. Thank you to all who contributed.
Well done to Oscar in P6 who took part in the Cumann na Bunscol country run at Limepark on Wednesday. He completed the 3.5km race in very hot conditions and we are all very proud of him. Maith thú Oscar!
Yesterday we had a great trip to Clandeboye Estate to take part in a day of forest school activities including den building, fire making, and a nature walk. The sun shone as we were able to fully explore what a being a forest school is all about and we look forward to our future journey in the project.
Thanks to the Causeway Coast and Glens Labour Market Partnership programme, we were able to enjoy a trip to Bushmills Garden Centre today.
This enabled us to visualise ways in which we can progress our school garden and outdoor learning environment
We had a few scenic stops along the way along with a beautiful lunch and play at the Garden Centre.
We held a successful themed week last week as we learnt about the geography, history and cultural aspects of Ireland culminating in our St. Patrick’s Day celebration on Friday. Themed weeks give us an opportunity to come off timetable and really focus intensively on a knowledge rich topic. See pictures of the week below.
