Well done to June in P3 who won the Easter prize from the Credit Union in Ballycastle.
We were delighted to visit the RSPB Rathlin West Light Seabird Centre today. Thank you to Geraldine and all the staff for the warm welcome and telling us about their preparations for the forthcoming season.
Today we welcomed W5 to our school for a workshop on ‘The World from Space’. Pupils explored how satellites are used, how they communicate, what infrared cameras are and how sound travels. Pupils also had the chance to explore the micro bit- something they will do more of next term in their coding lessons. Did you know Ireland's first satellite was launched 1st December 2023? Thank you to W5 and we'll see you in June.
As part of our St. Patrick’s day celebrations we looked at Ireland for World Around Us. During the week we looked at the geography, history and stories of Ireland. We also completed lots of craft activities too.
We welcomed local author Paddy Donnelly to school on Wednesday 13th March. Paddy presented each child with a copy of his new book ‘The Golden Hare’ and completed a workshop with the pupils about mystical creatures. The workshop and visit formed part of our themed week ‘Our Ireland’.
Pupils had great fun celebrating World Book Day 2024. Well done to all the boys and girls who dressed up their potatoes as their favourite book characters! Can you spot any famous book characters? We also had a whole school book quiz where pupils were split into teams and had to work together to solve the questions.
