  • Recommended Hours of Sleep

    Mon 01 Jun 2026

Please see the infographic from the Department of Education on the importance of sleep for children. Getting enough sleep is important for health, learning, and wellbeing. Primary school-aged children (5–11 years) should aim for 9–12 hours of sleep per night while teenagers (13–18 years) should aim for 8–10 hours per night. A regular sleep schedule can help improve concentration, memory, mood, and academic performance.

  • Confirmation 2026

    Mon 18 May 2026

Congratulations to our P7 pupil, Nyree, who was confirmed on Sunday 17th May in the Church of the Immaculate Conception. Nyree chose a confirmation name very relevant to our island community– Stella Maris Latin for "Star of the Sea". We wish Nyree, and her family, all the best as she continues on her journey of faith.

  • Great Rathlin Bakeoff and Eggcellent Experiments

    Thu 14 May 2026

It was a busy day in school on Tuesday with pupils in the wee class completing their ‘Great Rathlin Bakeoff’. Pupils had to create their own masterpieces using all their maths kills on weighing having researched and sourced their ingredients during the week for instructional writing.

In the afternoon, pupils in the wee class joined the big class for WAU and they had to design a helmet for an egg. Working in groups they had to think about how to protect the egg when dropping it form a height. A great day of STEM!

  • Shared Education

    Thu 07 May 2026

We launched our first Shared Education project with Gaelscoil An Chaistil PS this month. Throughout the day, pupils took part in a range of exciting activities including LEGO challenges, Forest School activities and archery. These activities encouraged creativity, communication, problem-solving and cooperation while helping pupils build new friendships across schools. Go riabh maith agat to the staff and pupils of GnaC for travelling over. We look forward to a return visit later this month.

  • P6/7 Cumann na mBunscol Skills Day

    Wed 22 Apr 2026

Our P6/7 pupils recently took part in a fantastic Cumann na mBunscol Skills Day in Dunloy today. The event provided a wonderful opportunity for the children to develop their hurling skills in a fun, inclusive, and supportive environment.

Throughout the day, pupils participated in a range of activities designed to improve their striking, ground hurling skills and teamwork. They showed great enthusiasm, determination, and sportsmanship, and it was brilliant to see everyone getting involved and encouraging one another.

A big thank you to the organisers and the coaches from Gaelfast for delivering such an enjoyable event. Our pupils represented the school brilliantly and should be very proud of their efforts. Maith thú!
