Have a look at what's happening in our school.
The children have made sea creatures to help with the yarnbombing for the Maritime Festival. For more information on the festival see the following website: https://www.rathlinsoundmaritimefestival.com
Today, we welcomed Ruth from the Rural Housing Assiocation to talk about the new housing development on the Island. Pupils have taken home information about a project to name the houses. Ruth will return on 23rd May to collect the names from the pupils and will work alongside ‘The Tuesday Club’ to finalise a name.
Today pupils and staff celebrated our Mindfulness Monday. The theme was ‘RathlinRocks’. Over the course of the day pupils had an assembly on mindfulness, took part in a quiz about Rathlin, had lunch at the beach and painted the rocks they found at the beach. Mindfulness can be learnt- remember to think about the here and now, not the future and not the past!
We would like to say a big thank you to Seamus Cassley for donating an Easter egg to every child in the school.
Today, pupils visited the RSPB Rathlin West Light Seabird centre to learn about the birds on the island. This is always an exciting time on Rathlin as we welcome the Puffins back. Unfortunately, the puffins have not yet arrived in big enough numbers for us to spot them- maybe we will soon.
Today pupils took part in a virtual art workshop with artist Sinéad McDermott. They looked at how to draw an easter basket using water paints and oil pastils. We were one of many schools, across the country, who took part.
P4-P7 were busy on Monday morning having an arts and crafts day for Easter. They made Easter cards, painted ceramics, made spring gardens and created their Easter nests. In between they even managed to do some yarn-bombing.
P1-P3 decorated and raced their eggs down the hill.
Today, P1-P3 finished their money topic with a trip to the shop on the island. They had to use their knowledge of money to buy a treat. Thank you to Ksenia for her help and explaining how money works.
