Have a look at what's happening in our school.
Odd Socks Day 2024 kicked off Anti-Bullying Week, celebrating uniqueness and promoting kindness to stand together against bullying. We were delighted to take part in it again this year.
We had lots of fun celebrating Halloween- can you spot the spooky characters? During assembly we learnt about all the Halloween traditions and how they link back to Celtic Ireland. After our special lunch, we took part in a spooky disco.
Pupils took part in Maths Week Ireland 2024 from 14th- 18th October 2024. Over the course of the week, they took part in lots of activities based around maths and on Tuesday had their dress up in maths clothes day. Well done to all the boys and girls on brilliant participation over the course of the week.
On Friday we visited the boathouse where Stephen and Jim showed us around the museum. We had to choose our five favourite items as part of the Rathlin Oral history project- not as easy task as there is so many interesting things in the museum.
The Big Beach Clean is an annual call to action as part of the International Coastal Cleanup (ICC), operated internationally by Ocean Conservancy. Today, pupils took part in the event by conducting our big beach clean at Mill Bay.
Lots of fun filled activities to celebrate the day of pirates! 🗺️⚱️
We had George Withers in singing some sea shanty’s which was amazing, and we sang some of our own too! Thank you George, Ahoy Matey!
We enjoyed learning some of the pirate words🎶
Postman Noel also got a lovely shipshape performance! 😉
We got the opportunity to visit the new housing development on the island this week and find about the progress of the buildings. Micky, from Lowry’s, showed us around and explained how the houses will be heated and how the electrics work in a modern house. This was particularly important for our KS1 pupils who are looking at buildings in the World Around Us topic.
We had lots of fun for Roald Dahl Day 2024. This year we created a selection of crafts from our favourite characters- Mr. Twit’s beard, the peach and our own marvellous medicine.
Eradication Project
We had a morning FULL of information about the LIFE Raft eradication project happening on our island! It’s important that we all keep safe during the ongoing project.
Massive thanks to Rauri and Biz from LIFE Raft for showing us your cool equipment, explaining how to use it safely and what to do if we spot something wrong!
Our first wellbeing day of 24/25 had a focus of ‘connect and re-connect’. Pupils got the opportunity to re-connect with their school friends and think about the importance of talking to each other. We also used the day to take part in some sporting activities and finished by planting new flowers in our garden. Pupils got the chance to use the new sports equipment kindly donated by Antrim and Ulster GAA. We welcomed back ex-pupils in Yrs. 8 and 9, now at CPC, for the day.
